Apple and Peanut Butter are a winning combination. Using a Granny Smith apple means you are choosing an apple that is less sweet and contains less fructose (sugar), then pairing it with peanut butter or another nut or seed butter is not only tasty but helps to pair the carbs from the apple as it is high in natural fats and protein. Therefore at Halloween, these Apple and Peanut Butter Teethy Bites are a great and fun snack choice!

Ingredients

  • 4 whole Granny Smith apples quartered
  • 12 tsp peanut butter
  • 50 grams sunflower seeds
  • 2 whole strawberries hulled & sliced

Instructions

  • Cut the apples in half, then into quarters and slice out the core
  • From the skin side, cut out a wedge to create the mouth
  • Add a tsp of peanut butter into each 'mouth'
  • Add a slice of strawberry to each mouth to create a 'tongue'
  • Push sunflower seeds into the edges to create the 'teeth'

Notes

Using other types, especially sweeter apples such as Braeburn or Pink Lady apples will increase the amount of fructose (natural sugar) and therefore it is best to opt for Granny Smith apples
